ABOUT US
Community Kids Haven Knoxfield is a childcare and early learning centre situated in the heart of Knoxfield, in-between the Scoresby and Ferntree Gully area. Our care and teaching approach incorporates the Reggio Emilia philosophy. At the core of this philosophy is an assumption that children form their own personality during the early years of development and that they are endowed with "a hundred languages", through which they can express their ideas. Additionally, we have a strong focus on natural elements and focus on education based around what the child displays interest in to ensure optimum engagement and advancements in their educational voyage in their early learning journey. We always emphasise the importance of parent input, participation and involvement into our program. Our team make every effort to establish an open, positive and trusting relationship with the parents.
We believe children have the right to be treated equally in an equitable environment that respects and positively acknowledges each child regardless of race, culture, gender, class, disability and age. We encourage our children to respect and value differences in others and themselves.
OUR MISSION
Educators and Management of CKH endeavour to provide a:
- Friendly environment that is safe and inviting for children, families and educators;
- Stimulating program that is accessible to all children and whilst being based on individual strengths also provides challenges to promote their development;
- Working environment that encourages educators to be creative and continue their learning process through professional development and mentoring from other educators.
OUR VISION
Our vision for CKH children: to develop a passion to learn and discover more about their world through play in an environment that is safe, secure, caring while embracing diversity and individuality;
Our vision for CKH families: to feel a belonging to the centre and participate in their child’s learning through program input and collaboration between families and educators;
Our vision for CKH educators: to be part of a team that embraces and promotes each individual members strengths and respects and considers each persons opinions, beliefs and values.
OUR CENTRE DIRECTOR
Hello, my name is Hayley Cameron and I am honoured to be the Centre Director at Community Kids Haven Knoxfield. I have been in the Early Childhood Education sector since 2010 and hold my Diploma in Children's services.
I knew from a young age that my passion lay in working with children. I started out as a casual assistant and have been privileged to grow in positions as time went on; Room assistant, Lead educator, Educational leader, Office Administration, Assistant Director and a Centre Director with the company since July 2018.
My personal philosophy is strongly based around working in partnership with families to ensure children thrive in our care environment. We pride ourselves on a 'family feel' centre, I strive to ensure all families, children, educators and visitors feel comfortable and welcome in our Centre. Relationships are based on respect, trust, communication and empathy to enable all parties to support the children's learning, development and growth.
Our team at Community Kids Haven Knoxfield believe every child is unique, capable, competent, curious and creative, therefore we provide children with tailored learning opportunities based on their individual needs, interests and strengths. We want the children to feel safe, secure and supported in the here and now to enable them to become competent and independent decision makers and learners.
We look forward to showing you and your children our centre and introducing you to our fantastic team of Educators!

I have had all 3 of my children go here, my youngest is still there doing kinder. I can't recommend them highly enough they are all caring and know each child. Great variety of food and accommodating when my child doesn't eat something particular. Special mention to Jodie who has helped myself and the centre through covid and coming out of covid, she is someone I know that my son loves and I know that she loves all the kids and is passionate about her job. Thank you for everything you do Jodie it is not unnoticed

My daughter has been attending Community Kids Haven Knoxfield for just over 2years now, and they have made my daughter and feel so comfortable and cared for the whole time we have been attending, even the first few weeks when I struggled leaving her for the first time in someone elses care, i could not fault a single thing.
A huge thank you, to Kelly and Bec being the very first two people she warmed too on her first few days. And all the amazing educators that she has grown beautiful relationships with of whom have played a big part in her life so far.
It has been an absolute joy having my daughter attend community kids haven, you have all welcomed us and made us both feel so comfortable, all the beautiful, happy and caring people that work here, the friends my daughter has made and everything she has learnt during her time here.
We will miss you all dearly when we finish up.

Dedicated staff, always see & hear children laughing, smiling & having fun & that’s a great indication all is well! The signing out process is monitored well & the director makes sure staff have children’s safety covered. ex: sunscreen & hats must be worn, families are contacted when children are unwell for the safety of all keep up the good work everyone.

It's always being a great journey to have our son in Community kids haven early learning centre. All the staff there are extremely friendly and caring.
The manager Haylee is so helpful and patient for all of our questions and concerns. Each time we need her, she is always there. Also we want to thank all of the ladies from Nursery two. I fully trust them to take good care of my son, and they never let me down. I love all of the art work, music and story time they organized.
With personal reason, today was my son's last day. Mrs Kelly who is the room leader baked the cupcakes for him since tomorrow is his birthday. Such a nice surprise. We will definitely miss them and come back as soon as we can.

We take sun protection very seriously at Community Kids Haven. Overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation causes wrinkles and skin and eye damage, ultimately leading to skin cancer.
UV cannot be seen or felt. It is not like the sun’s light which we see, or the sun’s warmth (infrared radiation) which we feel. Our senses cannot detect UV so it can be damaging without us knowing. There is a huge variation in UV levels across Australia. The UV level is affected by a number of factors including the time of day, time of year, cloud cover, altitude, proximity to the equator, scattering and reflection.
Take away the guesswork of the UV exposure each day by checking out the SunSmart UV widget. The widget shows the sun protection times closest to our centres location, making it easier than ever to be smart about your sun exposure all year.
