WHO ARE WE

Community Kids Haven Hillside is a small family-owned and operated 60 place centre. We have 4 rooms that can hold up to 15 children per room and these consist of; our Babies room ages 0-2, Toddler room ages 2-3, Pre Kinder ages 3-4 and our Kindergarten room for our 4-5 year old’s which is run by our Bachelor of Early Childhood Qualified Kinder teacher. 

Our yards are architecturally designed and we have freshly prepared meals every day with a qualified cook.  

We are located just off Gourlay Road on the corner of Allenby Road and Jade Way Hillside, a short 3 minute drive from Coles Taylors Hill.

 

OUR MISSION

Educators and Management of CKH endeavour to provide a:

  • Friendly  environment that is safe and inviting for children, families and educators;
  • Stimulating program that is accessible to all children and whilst being based on individual strengths also provides challenges to promote their development;
  • Working environment that encourages educators to be creative and continue their learning process through professional development and mentoring from other educators.

OUR CENTRE DIRECTOR

I'm Krystal, and I've dedicated 17 years to the early childhood industry, starting when I was just 17 years old. From the beginning, my passion has been nurturing children and supporting their growth. Over the years, I've held various roles including Casual, Assistant Educator, Room Leader, Kindergarten Teacher, and Educational Leader. Now, I'm honoured to serve as the Centre Director at Community Kids Haven Hillside.

In my approach to early childhood education, I firmly believe that each child is unique and deserves respect and appreciation. I see children as active participants in their learning journey, with educators playing a crucial role in nurturing their individuality and understanding their diverse developmental paths. My biggest belief in relation to learning and development is that children learn more effectively in a social environment, when they are interacting with other children. This interaction allows them to talk to the other children about what they are doing and brainstorm with other children about how to solve a problem or what they should make or play with.

All staff members are friendly approachable and always open to feedback from parents. The centre director Bryony is amazing and always free for a chat with her friendly smile. Having worked and supervised a childcare centre myself - I felt sorry for the ladies at Community Kids because I had a hawks eye on every detail and was ready to compare - needless to say I am speechless and beyond amazed. The staff are a joy to be around - and so experienced - they have been around for years so you know the centre is one of integrity! They actually have a love and passion for childcare - which is so rare these days. The relationships & bonds they have formed with my daughters are honest and beautiful - and the way they work with us as a family to assist and benefit my kids has meant the world to us. The centre is ALWAYS spotless and I mean ALWAYS someone cleaning or sanitising or packing up! My children rave on about the food (I’ve had to pinch a few recipes from the chef) The daily journals and weekly/monthly teachings are in depth and so detailed - the photos make us all feel like we haven’t missed a beat. I wish I had started them off here. So glad I found this hidden gem!!! Wish I could rate them 10 stars!!!!

Our centre is open from Monday till Friday 6:30am till 6:30pm we are closed on weekends and public holidays.

We take sun protection very seriously at Community Kids Haven. Overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation causes wrinkles and skin and eye damage, ultimately leading to skin cancer.

UV cannot be seen or felt. It is not like the sun’s light which we see, or the sun’s warmth (infrared radiation) which we feel. Our senses cannot detect UV so it can be damaging without us knowing. There is a huge variation in UV levels across Australia. The UV level is affected by a number of factors including the time of day, time of year, cloud cover, altitude, proximity to the equator, scattering and reflection.
