Ardeer Childcare

ABOUT US

Community Kids Haven Ardeer is a childcare and early learning centre situated in-between the Albion and Deer Park area, tucked away on a service road on Ballarat Rd. Our care and teaching approach incorporate the Reggio Emilia philosophy. At the core of this philosophy is an assumption that children form their own personality during the early years of development and that they are endowed with "a hundred languages", through which they can express their ideas. Children engage in a variety of learning using a large range of resources including recycled materials, wooden blocks and loose parts. The children participate in an indoor/outdoor curriculum that is based on the children’s interests.

Located at 697 Ballarat Road, Ardeer VIC 3022

OUR MISSION

Educators and Management of CKH endeavour to provide a:

  • Friendly  environment that is safe and inviting for children, families and educators;
  • Stimulating program that is accessible to all children and whilst being based on individual strengths also provides challenges to promote their development;
  • Working environment that encourages educators to be creative and continue their learning process through professional development and mentoring from other educators.

OUR VISION

Our vision for CKH children: to develop a passion to learn and discover more about their world through play in an environment that is safe, secure, caring while embracing diversity and individuality;

Our vision for CKH families: to feel a belonging to the centre and participate in their child’s learning through program input and collaboration between families and educators ;

Our vision for CKH educators: to be part of a team that embraces and promotes each individual members strengths and respects and considers each persons opinions, beliefs and values.

OUR CENTRE DIRECTOR

Hola Ardeer community!

My name is Ana, and I am the Centre Director at Community Kids Haven Ardeer since we opened on the 12th of July, 2021.
I have worked in the Early Learning Sector for 30 years, starting as an assistant and working my way up to Centre Director. I am a proud mother of three daughters and an abuela (grandmother) of five beautiful grandchildren I adore.

I strongly believe it takes a village to support, extend, and develop a child's full potential. Acknowledging how children perceive and engage with the world around them and connecting their experiences and surroundings with the Early Years Learning Framework's five Learning Outcomes, Principles, and Practices is essential.

My vision is for my team to offer programs suitable for children's development, enabling them to acquire skills and knowledge while maintaining good physical and mental health.
I am committed to leading a team that brings various skills, knowledge, and understanding related to their unique cultural experiences.

I will mentor our team to be ongoing learners, developing pedagogical skills to embrace the children under our care, their families and our community.

We will work together as a strong and committed team, with each member performing their best.

We take sun protection very seriously at Community Kids Haven. Overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation causes wrinkles and skin and eye damage, ultimately leading to skin cancer.

UV cannot be seen or felt. It is not like the sun’s light which we see, or the sun’s warmth (infrared radiation) which we feel. Our senses cannot detect UV so it can be damaging without us knowing. There is a huge variation in UV levels across Australia. The UV level is affected by a number of factors including the time of day, time of year, cloud cover, altitude, proximity to the equator, scattering and reflection.

Take away the guesswork of the UV exposure each day by checking out the SunSmart UV widget. The widget shows the sun protection times closest to our centres location, making it easier than ever to be smart about your sun exposure all year.
